Choosing the Right Firm
Ever known anyone to be in serious legal trouble? How important was it for them to choose the correct attorney to provide winning legal representation? Well, it is equally as important to choose the right executive search firm for your staffing needs. There are many criteria which should be considered when selecting the firm(s) you trust in representing your company either as a valued partner or even as a “necessary evil.” The following list provides questions you may want to ask prior to entering into a client/ recruiter relationship:
- Will the principle be directly involved and accessible the entire search process or delegated to a lower level associate?
- Can/how will the firm deliver once mutual interest is established?
- Do I have good chemistry with my search partner?
- Do they have a proven track record in my niche’?
- Does the search firm’s candidate network match the need(s) of my organization?
- Can they source the companies I want to see talent from? Do they have pre-established networks in those companies?
- What is the exact role I will play during the search/recruitment process? What role do I want my search partner to play?
- Does my search partner understand the intangibles that provide for a good, long-term match in my company?
- Will this person/firm represent my company and position in the marketplace in a manner by which I will be pleased?
- What type of fee arrangement is best suited for my need(s)? Contingency? Contained? Retained?
- What role do researchers play in the search process for that firm?
